Guide to Attractions at Walt Disney World

Here are some charts with all of the Attractions in all four parks across Walt Disney World. Each chart covers all of the Attractions in a particular land of the park. Listed on the charts are useful information like what type of Attraction it is, my rating on it (based on the old coupon system), the “fright factor,” if the Attraction takes place inside or outside, how its approximate duration, and special notes you may want to heed. Use this chart along with my Guide to Enjoying Walt Disney World and Guide to Attraction Queues to determine what Attractions you or your family would like the most, which ones to FastPass and which ones are worth the wait, which ones will fit into your schedule, and which ones may be too intense for you or your children.

Just a few things to consider as you look over these charts:

  1. Understanding Attraction Types:
    1. A “4-D Movie” is a 3-D film with “Sensory” enhancements.
    2. “A-A Show” is a show performed by Audio-Animatronics. Likewise, a “Live Show” is a show performed by live performers.
    3. “Carnival” Attractions are Disney-themed versions of typical carnival rides.
    4. A “Dark Ride” takes you through dynamically lit scenes in an individual ride vehicle (occasionally these vehicles are in a constantly moving loop, called an Omnimover), usually at a slow to moderate speed (unless otherwise noted).
    1. A “Sensory” Attraction uses effects that involve senses such as hearing, touch, and smell (often in darkness) as enhancements to immerse the Guest in the experience.
    1. “Trackless” is a dark ride in which the vehicles are self-guided and the experience may differ depending on the vehicle order.
    2. The “PeopleMover” is similar to an Omnimover, except that the vehicles separate into trains and alter speed throughout the ride. There is only one of this type of attraction (in the world).
  2. My “Rating” is based on the old “A” through “E” Coupon system which both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom used until 1982. Though the values are the same, with “A” being the lowest and “E” being the highest, they are not always the original value designated by Disney. (The Coupons were retired before any of the other parks opened.) The rating is determined by multiple factors, including the level of technology used, thrill level, ambition/theming, and public opinion. For example, Snow White’s Scary Adventures and Peter Pan’s Flight are both classic Fantasyland Dark Rides with similar execution and technology, but the popularity of Peter Pan’s Flight gives it a slightly higher rating. Please note that an “A” ticket rating does not necessarily mean it is a bad Attraction or not worth visiting. An “A” Attraction like Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel is a classic loved by many, especially children, but receives an “A” due to the fact that it does not have any special technology or thrills, and it doesn’t really provide a uniquely Disney experience aside from its music and atmosphere.
  3. The “Thrill” factor is something to consider, especially if you have children. Here are a few notes on Thrill:
    1. Zero exclamations = Should not be frightening to anyone.
    2. One exclamation (!) = Some moments may be frightening to children, though these moments may be unintentionally frightening.
    3. Two exclamations (!!) = Some mild or brief thrills may be frightening to children and some adults, but the overall execution of the Attraction is not meant to be frightening.
    4. Three exclamations (!!!) = Extreme and/or continuous thrills may be frightening to children and some adults. These may include extreme physical thrills such as G-Forces.
  4. “Area” describes where you will be spending your attraction experience. You can be inside, outside, outside in a covered area or vehicle, or alternating.
  5. “Length” is an approximation within about 5 minutes of the actual duration and includes the Attraction and any preshows (but not the wait in between). Obviously, unforeseen delays and pauses are not included. Actual times may vary.
  6. “Special Notes” lists any factors unique to the Attraction and may include any thrills you would encounter. Here are a few notes on Special Notes:
    1. ##” – This attraction has a minimum height requirement of ## inches. Guests under this height will not be allowed to experience it.
    2. Backward – Portions of this attraction have you traveling backward for purposes of storyline, comfort, or thrill.
    3. Bumpy – This attraction may jostle you around, potentially aggravating any back or neck pain or causing motion sickness.
    4. Dark – Portions of the attraction take place in total, or near total darkness.
    5. Drop(s) – This attraction features one or more significant drops.
    6. Enclosed – This attraction is enclosed in a tight space which may make claustrophobics uncomfortable.
    7. Fast – This attraction moves at a consistently fast pace, usually for thrill purposes.
    8. G-Force – Portions of this attraction will expose you to extreme G-Forces.
    9. Height – Portions of this attraction take place at a height that may make acrophobics uncomfortable.
    10. Loop(s) – This attraction will take you through one or more upside-down loops.
    11. Loud – This attraction features sudden and/or loud sound effects which may frighten or startle children or adults.
    12. Pyro – This attraction features pyrotechnic fireworks, explosions, fires, and/or simulated gunplay.
    13. Restraints – This attraction requires shoulder restraints to be worn which may make claustrophobics uncomfortable.
    14. Spin – This attraction will spin quickly and/or uncontrollably, potentially causing motion sickness.
    15. Stand – You will spend all or part of this attraction standing, for example, during a pre-show, wheelchairs are generally permitted for Guests with limited mobility.
    16. Wet – You may get wet on this attraction.
